The notorious full-fledged media player, VLC, is going, at the moment, through a major development phase, both in under-the-hood features and UI refinements.
Weeks ago, we presented the new features of VLC 1.2./1.3, as well as the new UI enhancements (polished scrubber and progressbar, rethinked controllbar, video pause when minimizing VLC, subtitles proper rendering, etc), and, it seems that there is a new official stable PPA on launchpad offering the new VLC 2.0 stable daily (although is it daily build offers stable versions of VLC as opposed to master daily PPA, where one can find unstable releases).
There are no visible changes in VLC 2.0, nevertheless the work on blu-ray integration continues along with bug fixes.
How do we install VLC 2.0?
Add the following official PPA (Oneiric, Precise)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
