Ubuntu 12.04 sound theme: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Canonical

Weeks ago, Ubuntu 12.04's login sound was removed and, at that time, the explanation was mainly based on the fast Ubuntu startup that wouldn't need a sound theme, but, just now, straightly from the design team, a CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS has been launched, inviting users to submit proposals for possibly new Precise Pangolin sound theme.

"The auditory experience of Ubuntu must be included in this theme to maintain an immersion environment and consistency with the brand", sound theme that must be based/created in mind with Ubuntu's core values: freedom, precision, reliability, coloration.

Another important parameter that is to be taken in consideration when creating the sound theme is Ubuntu's new "all form factors" approach.

The projects is to be developed in steps, first, no later than Monday, 13th February, interested users should submit a desktop startup sound and one notification sound (in general, like for instance, a calendar event).

The design team's feedback is to be expressed by Wednesday 15th February, and "we will work with the successful participant to refine the startup sound for the 12.04 release and continue to work with them on the development of the Ubuntu soundscape".

Submissions are to be sent to Ubuntu's Nick Tait, nick.tait@canonical.com , subject “Sound Theme” in a folder entitled “firstnamelastname.zip”
