Video-recording the desktop, taking pictures of applications, capturing portions of the screen, etc, are actions that can be performed via Kazam, powerful screen-recording tool that offers an intuitive, simplistic yet reliable experience.
Among its recording types, Kazam comes by default with per-area ability to capture the screen, meaning, the user is able to video-record and image-record desired areas of the screen, actions doable by hitting the
Area button and drawing the to-be-recorded portion of the desktop.
Kazam has been updated to version 1.4.2, introducing a minor-yet-relevant capability, namely, enhanced area-selection support.
Clicking on Kazam's
Area button, displays now a draggable, resizable selection area, exposing a selection space with eight draggable circles; navigating to a circle, allows the user to drag, resize and adjust the to-be-recorded area.
Each circle is usable, (for example) dragging the middle-top circle towards the top of the screen, vertically resizes the selection area.
Moreover, the just-created selection area can be moved across the screen by simply clicking on it & holding & dragging the selection area to a preferred space on the screen.
How do we install Kazam 1.4.2?
Add the following official PPA (Precise, Quantal, Raring)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/stable-series
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kazam
